Appliance removal & recycling.

The new washer is being delivered and the old one is just… there. Photograph it and the door path, and we coordinate a crew to haul it out and route the metal right.

An appliance dies once, then blocks a doorway for a year. Recycling it takes one pickup.

Disconnection comes first

Appliances must be disconnected before pickup: unplugged, water lines shut and detached, gas lines capped by someone qualified. Gas is the hard rule — crews haul appliances, they don't work on gas fittings. Do the disconnect the day before, and put a towel down: even a 'drained' washer holds a surprising amount of water.

Where dead appliances actually go

A washer is 150 pounds of very recyclable steel, which is why appliances are among the most responsibly routed junk categories. Crews route metal-bodied units to scrap recycling where possible rather than landfill. Working units in good shape can be flagged for donation — a functioning dryer has more takers than you'd think.

Delivery didn't take the old one?

Retail haul-away often has conditions — extra fees, same-brand-only, or refusal on units in tight spots. If delivery day came and went and the old unit is still in the garage, that's the standard version of this request. Photograph it where it sits and it's quoted like any single-item pickup, better if bundled with other junk.

Questions

Asked before every pickup.

Do you take water heaters?

Yes — drained and disconnected tank heaters are standard picks. Note gas versus electric and where it lives in the house.

Can the crew disconnect my washer?

Simple unplugging and detached hoses should be done beforehand. Anything involving gas or hardwiring needs a qualified tradesperson first.

Is there value in the scrap?

Scrap value is baked into the routing economics rather than paid out — the benefit to you is the pickup itself and the metal staying out of landfill.
