Piano removal.

An upright piano concentrates several hundred pounds onto four small casters. Photograph it and the path out, and we match the request with a crew built for it.

Nobody inherits a piano tuner. Eventually, everybody inherits a piano.

Why pianos are their own category

A spinet runs 300 pounds; a full upright can pass 800, with the weight in a cast-iron plate that shifts balance unpredictably. Stairs multiply the difficulty. This is why piano requests are photo-qualified before quoting — the model type, the floor it's on, and the exit path decide whether it's a standard heavy item or a specialty move.

Is the piano worth donating instead?

It's honest to say the used piano market has collapsed — most uprights are given away free and still find no takers, because moving them costs more than they're worth. Playable pianos can be flagged for donation attempts, but if it's been untuned for a decade, removal is usually the realistic answer.

Grand pianos and special cases

Baby grands and grands need leg removal, skid boards, and genuinely specialized handling — describe the piano precisely and expect the request to be reviewed for crew fit before any quote. Digital pianos and organs, by contrast, are usually straightforward two-person carries and quote like ordinary furniture.

Questions

Asked before every pickup.

What photos do you need for a piano?

The full piano from the front, a side angle showing depth, the room it's in, and every doorway, step, or staircase on the way out.

Can a piano come out of an upstairs room?

Sometimes, with the right crew and equipment — that's exactly what the qualification step determines. Be precise about the staircase.

What happens to removed pianos?

Playable ones are flagged for donation where routing exists; the rest are broken down, with metal plates and strings recycled as scrap where possible.
